Why are my bGs wicking?

Every bG I've had DD in today has wicked. It seems to happen very quickly, too. Now I've got her in an almost too small FB and so far it seems fine. I don't understand.
I wash them all together so what gives?

I wish I could help, but mine are wicking too. The side tabs are getting soaked and wicking onto DS's clothes. It doesn't matter what I stuff them with, I've tried everything. I just bought these and am so disappointed. This didn't happen with bG 1.0!
nak

i've had mine for awhile and have had the occasional leak, but this is ridiculous. yes, it's very disapointing.
maybe they are over-stuffed? I know that the inserts for Fuzzi Bunz are not desgned to touch one side of the diaper and the other to prevent wicking. If the insert is too bulky and touches both edges (you know, the edge from the inside of one leg to the other) the moisture can wick very easily. What are you stuffing them with? Maybe try something narrower?

I hadn't thought of that. I've just been using the cottonbabies microfiber inserts. Now that I think about it, it seems that some of those are wider than others.

Thanks!

Now I am nervous, I just ordered one to try. Bummer.

Hmmm...I wonder if that is what is happening to the 2 Swaddlebees that I ordered. I got a sampler of 2 SB 1 w/snaps 1 w/aplix, 1 FB, and 1 BG...THe BG and the FB came with inserts but the SB did not...I was stuffing them with 2 hemp inserts and noticed that around the leg openings the outer cover is wet...how do you know if you are leaking vs. wicking?

I wonder what inserts I should be using w/my SB...ALso should I then be folding the hmp in thirda rather than half to prevent what you described above?

P.S. I have washed the diapers several times and boiled my hemp inserts to help with the absorbency...

I had major trouble with my brand-spanking-new BGs wicking when I first got them. Once I contacted the company, we talked about my wash routine and found that baking soda was the culprit. They said that baking soda and tto will cause the suedecloth to wick...and it does. My BGs were like a rubber sheet - they absorbed nothing, but once I took the baking soda out of my wash routine, all was well - no leaks.
Interesting...... we are starting to have some leaking issues with our 1.0's and I assumed they were just getting old/wearing out.
I do add a small scoop of baking soda to my soak cycle, so I will take that out and see what happens!

oooh, baking soda? I always use baking soda in my wash, so I bet that's it.

Okay, I'll rewash them and I'll give them one more chance before I chuck them out the window.

No baking soda here. I just re-washed them all so I'll see what happens when they dry.
no baking soda here and mine wick everytime through the stretchy tabs

Also be sure that the insert is not going beyond the velcro strip on the top front of the diaper. I understand that this can cause some issues as well. Good luck getting this resolved! I've been very happy with the 2.0s so far with no issues. I hope you get to say the same soon

I was having the same problem until I folded the insert down to the first snap. This way my son had the bulk of the insert where he needed it in front.
