I don't sleep. And it's not 'cause I'm napping during the afternoon.

Before baby, I was up late night and up early in the morning.

Now...I'm 14w1d...and I'm in bed by about 9...no LATER than 9:30! And I usually wake up somewhere around 12-1 in the morning...and I'm awake (tossing and turning) until around 4am. And then of course, I get up with my husband somewhere between 5 and 6am.

HELP!

I have a similar problem as well. I can fall asleep rather easily but when I wake up for my second potty trip, usually around 3-4 AM, sometimes I'm not able to fall back asleep for hours, if at all. I bought a cool mist humidifer and that has helped wonders. It sort of doubles as a white noise machine which I think has also helped. 4 of the last 5 nights, I've been able to sleep through mostly. It's made a world of difference!

I couldn't fall asleep last night either. I was exhausted but unable to settle.

DH came up to bed late (11:15pm) and I was still up and frusterated. I suprised DH with some late night hanky-panky..

and of course went right to sleep right after and slept really well.

Some things you could try before bed: chamomile tea (it's safe for pregnancy), yoga, stretching, deep breathing exercises, meditation. A warm bath or massage (if you have someone to give you one!) Anything that relaxes the body or mind just might help. Also regular exercise, anything that gets your blood moving during the day, can help you sleep better.

I'm not sure what's worse, pregnancy insomnia or light sleep that's tainted by weird disturbing pregnancy dreams (I've had both.) Good luck getting more/better sleep!

I'm kinda in the same boat. I can usually get to sleep okay but when it comes time for potty breaks, it takes me hours sometimes to fall back asleep. I also have 3 other children, 2 of which still ocassionally wake in the night wanting a beverage or comfort from a bad dream so that can keep me up too. Hubs helps as much as he can of course. I MUST have my floor fan on for noise. Usually during the winter, I have it pointed away from me but I'm pregnant and hot so I have it pointed right at me. I also just purchased a Snoogle "All Nighter" pillow by Leachco and it came today. I tried it out a second ago and I would be amazed at anyone being an insomniac after sleeping with that thing, pregnant or not. It's like a nest, or a cloud, I don't know, but I wanted so badly just to snuggle up in it and watch some Dr. Phil. I'll let you know how it works out tonight, as that will be the true test.

Haha also, DH has been benefiting from me not being able to sleep as well. I lay there for awhile, get bored, then decide to wake him up for some hanky panky too!

Update on the pillow: it sucked. Maybe when I'm bigger and experiencing more hip and back pain I'll try it again but at this point I'm not desperate enough yet. It's too big and cumbersome and I ended up throwing it on the floor in the middle of the night. Oh well, the kids like climbing on it.

Im having the same sleep issues. I can fall asleep okay, but then I wake up a few hours or so in and can't settle back in. I have a pg pillow that I loved during my last pregnancy, but lately it's just annoying me. I find myself wrestling with it and then eventually tugging on it and tossing it off the bed.

I did the same exact thing the other night. My pillow is just a standard bodypillow, but it's still too bulky and cumbersome and I'm not quite desperate enough to need it. I too tossed mine in the floor in a bout of frusteration after trying to make it work for over an hour.

I have been waking up at 3 am every morning. It's so annoying! Two nights ago I was up from 3-5 am. Getting up for the day at 6:30 was not fun.

Same here. It may just be hormones. I have the same problem during my lp when I'm not pg. Progesterone keeps me awake, I guess. Or maybe it's a lack of estrogen.

The thing that has been helping me has been listening to the CD that came with my Hypnobirthing book. I bought the book when I was pregnant with DS 5 years ago, and listened to the CD as labor prep that time, but I found I never got through the whole thing, because it made me fall asleep. So this time, I've been having a lot of muscle tension (especially in my neck) and problems relaxing to go to sleep, so I pulled it out and started listening to it last week, and I've been sleeping so much more deeply! I'm planning to take the Hypnobabies class in a few weeks, so really I'm just using this CD as a sleep aid ;)
