Can we get a thread going of all the wonderful reasons for cloth diapering just for any lurkers who are peeking in thinking "are they nuts???" <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shy.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="innocent"><br><br>
My main reason for cloth diapering right now, though the reasons are numerous, is because a cloth covered bum is soooooo much cuter than a paper covered bum. No offence to paper diaper users, of course, all baby bums are cute, but all the colors and patterns and fabrics and tags...cloth is just way cute. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love">

Oooh, i'm an early one here! Ok, here are our reasons: (we cd part-time- sposies for work with daddy & cd at home)<br><br>
The smell of sposies is yukky<br>
Each cd I put on dd is one less sposie in the landfill.<br>
Her bum is worth putting soft, beautiful fabrics on.<br>
Wool pants are totally amazing!!!<br>
Doing the diaper laundry is oddly soothing to me. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/shrug.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="shrug"><br><br>
That's all i can think of for now. Must need more coffee <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

I started cding because they were cute and would save me money. I continue doing it for these reasons mostly. I hate sposies now, paper butts is what we call them.

environment<br>
cute bums<br>
smell of sposies makes me nauseous<br>
gives me a creative outlet-dh was going nuts, he'd come home and a piece of furniture would be hacked apart, or painted, or decoupaged, or attached to another piece of furniture (and it's not limited just to the furniture, he got real upset when I started hot glueing his old matchbox cars to picture frames)<br>
practice my sewing and knitting by making dipes and whatnot for the kiddo<br><br>
fder-I forgot the most important reason, dd is very irritated by the chemicals in sposies, and so was ds2-that's mostly why we started. we did sposies with ds1 until about 20mo

I started to CD because I hated the smell of wet sposies, because of the cost of disposables as opposed to my husband's low income, and because the more I thought about it, I would never wear paper underwear, why should my daughter have to?

Long-term money savings<br>
Seemed more comfortable for DD to wear<br>
The mental image of disposables in landfills, contaminating groundwater<br>
It just doesn't feel right to me to buy things for the purpose of throwing them away<br>
Yes, the laundry is soothing<br>
So unbelievably freakin' cute!!!

Not really in any particular order...<br><br>
The cute factor (this was initial reason!)<br>
The comfort for baby factor<br>
The environment factor<br>
The money saving factor (even though I spend WAY too much on dipes I know I can sell them off when I'm done so that makes me feel better)<br>
The "no need to run out to the store to buy dipes" factor <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1"><br><br>
and now that I've been using them for awhile...<br><br>
Sposies kind of gross me out

I cloth diaper because using sposies is an awfully expensive way to leave non biodegradable hazardous pollution on our planet. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngtongue.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="Stick Out Tongue">uke<br><br>
Then I found that I lurve cloth diapering because the soft, beautiful WAHM creations just make me swoon. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/drool.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="drool">

Started with cloth because I was reallllyyy tired of poop blowouts in sposies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/irked.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="irked">: and figured there was no way cloth could leak more than that!<br><br>
Then I realized how cute cloth was, and how much more fun it was than sposies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"><br><br>
Then I started reading about all the chemicals, etc. in sposies <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad">

(on everyone else's kids anyway-we have a pretty plain stash <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> but i <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"> looking at all the pics and "windowshopping" at all the WAHM sites!!)<br>

I started because the piles of diaper trash were staggering. We don't have trash service and take everything to the dump, so we can really get a handle on how much trash we generate.<br><br>
second reason was because of the chemicals in sposies. I'm not a big fan of chemicals as a whole.

It really was a money issue with me originally. Why spend all of that money on sposies when cloth diapers are so much better anyways? Then I ended up using Fuzzi Bunz only, so I'm not sure how much I've really saved or will save. There are always the enviromental benefits and the health benefits to Zayla. But now I've become addicted to the attention (mostly positive) that the cloth diapers get me and Zayla. People are usually so impressed and interested, I think I've even converted a few people.

I CD because first and foremost because it's better for my children. I wouldn't want to wear paper and plastic underwear so why should my kids? Then I of course I do it because sposies to me are just yucky and I don't want to be the one who leaves any of that behind. And lastly because it is so darn fun! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

Quick reply here because the birthday boy is fussy <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
The top reasons are because it's better for Connor and the environment. I sold it to my DH as being less expensive, but he doesn't believe me anymore<br><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/wink1.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="wink1">. I never realized that it could be so cute and fun too!
