i'll be 14 weeks pregnant with my 2nd on Saturday and i'm the size i was when i was over 20 with my first. why is that? my uterus isn't any higher than before, so why is my belly so much bigger? and if my uterus is still pretty low, like WAY under my belly button still, why is my belly so big?? is it just pushing everything up? i'm not a big girl to begin with - 5'7, 115lbs. i weigh the same as i did before i had my first.

i feel silly looking so pregnant and i'm only 14 weeks pregnant!!

this is me at 12 weeks

Well, my midwife described it thus to another client who was on baby #4, "It's like your body is a pair of bluejeans, and you know how they stretch out a little more each day you wear them without washing? You're on day 4."

I think you do get stretched out, your muscles are a little more relaxed, and your body probably 'remembers' its pregnant shape and reverts to it more quickly.

I heard the balloon theory. There's a little more effort blowing up a balloon the first time. Try it again, and it's more flexible and stretches more readily. I feel your pain, mama! I'm feel huge for 23 weeks.

I'm on my third pregnancy and am actually growing slower with this one than the other two. The difference is I am taking better care of myself and getting a lot more exercise. The growing I have been doing has been a definite baby bump, and not just fat-all-over. I'm 16 weeks and can still wear my pre-pregnancy jeans, but I am starting to get a fat roll at the top.
