My 12 yr old Springer, Ryley:

1. because, even if dh and ds are already home, he sits at the window and waits waits waits for me.
2. Because, when we're just hanging out at home watching tv- or if we have guests, he sits/lays right at my feet.
3. because, even though he's a funky old man he is still the ultimate epidamy of beaustiful conformed springer. just beautiful!
4. Because, even though he's a lame old man he still wants to play w/ his brother dog. Or with a tennis ball.
5. Because, even though he hates to ride in the car he still BEGS to ride in the car to be with us.
6. Because, even though he's grumpy and has been known to growl at people and HATES kids- he adores my ds. And proves it with his amazing patiance every single moment of every single day.
7. because he eats my tofu-pup leftovers and never says "... where's the beef"

My 5 yr old Samoyed, Sosa:
1. he's big and puffy- who wouldn't love resting your head against that?
2. The fact that he would NEVER EVER growl at any human- EVER and that a child could poke him in the eye w/ a butter knife and he would simply get up and move!
3. I LOVE looking at him sitting out on the LAST pile of snow in the yard in the early spring.
4. He actually SMILES!
5. He has crooked bottom teeth, and my dh does too... dh calls themselves the "founding memebers of the "crooked bottom gang"! lol
6. He goes to work w/ dh every day. He hates every minute of it (dh is a builder and Sosa has to be tied to the bumper of his truck all day) but follows him around like a shadow every morning BEGGING to go again...
7. he's the alpha dog. Other dogs bow (-wow) to him automatically.
8. He's bossy. When he wants to "be boss" he "gives me the butt", which means he squarly stands in front of me w/ his butt as close to me as possible, refusing to move... even when pushed. And I swear- he thinks it's so funny!
9. He is afraid of water.... even puddles. He will go to extremes to NOT WALK in a puddle- too cute to observe.
10. Mostly I love that my dh and he are so quentiessential "man and dog" together. They adore one another and I appreciate his constant unconditional respect for dh. (although he lacks respect for ME--- I think him a sexist dog sometimes! I'm a woman- low on his todem pole!!!LOL)

Catty Bweeto (8ish tiger cat):
I love this guy. He's lived with us for 2 years now and he is just a big fat lazy cat. Yet, out of no where he'll zip up and around the house to attack my legs as I walk down the stairs. Only me. Strange but entertaining. He loves it when everyone else is in bed and he can find me awake in the study reading to snuggle with. His purring puts me to sleep every night.

Nelly-Belly (9 month old mini-lop bunny):
1. She's my doll. I love the simple fact that I'm her favorite and she'll lay on the couch w/ me for hours accepting head-strokes and cheeck massages.
2. My dh HATES this but I find it amusing... she thinks Sosa (samoyed) is her boyfriend. She will circle him in tight quick circles grunting all the while. She sleeps on his back and rides around on his neck. She loves him. Too funny.

*that's my clan. That's why I love 'em.

what about you?

Ha! That is so funny. I've got a few dogs who sass me by swinging their butts around and doing this hophophop to bump their butts against me or what I'm sitting on. I heard on one of those dog shows on tv that it is called "hucklebucking." They think it is hilarious and two of them accompany it with "woowooooo! woo!" and one will hold his scrunched up mouth in an "O" all ready to sass some more.
I've got too many to list them all, but great thread idea!

Why I Love our fur kids:
Spencer (mini-lop bunny):
Our first and oldest, we resuced him from being dinner to our friend's snake and he's loved us ever since.
is about 7 years old now and very sick. Most people would have put him down by now due to his illness. But, even though he can't be as active and normal as before, he still loves to be held, petted, and rolls over to eat and drink on his own. There is still fight left in there and as long as he is willing to fight so are we.

He is laid back, isn't scared of the dog, and captured our hearts from the get go with his curious nature and cute face.

Darla (chinchilla unicorn lop):
She is the queen bee of our bunn kids. She doesn't rule by force, but by sheer force of will. She will tolerate your presense, but still loves to be petted and is not afraid of the dog either.

Chloe (dutch x Mini-Rex):
She is very skittish and hides behind Spencer or Darla when the dog is near. She loves attention, but is afraid to come get it. After a while her curiosity overcomes her and she'll come up to sniff you and see what you are all about.

Roxy (black bunny):
My sister had her living in the barn for a while before we got her. She is so loveable, and curious, and a people rabbit. She comes up to the side of the pen to see what is going on and actively seeks out the dog to snif noses with him (too cute).

George (10 mo. mutt puppy):
Our newest memeber. what can i say... the list goes on and on
1. cute, oh so cute
2. laid back, very laid back (almost lazy)
3. Funniest look on his face when he runs. His ears flop and his mouth is kinda open, looks so joyful, you just have to laugh
4. Love us SO much. He'll be waiting by the door when we get home and then flops down on his back over top our feet and lay there with his belly up waiting to get rubbs.
5. when I am home his follows me around to whatever room I'm in. sometimes just to lay there and sleep, other times he brings his toys or chewies with.
6. He hasn't shown any aggression towards our bunnies.
7. His bark and growl are intimidating until you see him (he's kinda short)
-he's never actually growled at someone face to face-
8. He's let toddlers fall and step on him without showing anything other then surprise and then, sometimes, moving out of the way.
9. He's a quick learner, only jumped on the bed 1x.
10. He wakes us up by whining, not barking. If we don't wake up, he'll nudge the bed with his chest, if that doesn't work, he'll lick my DH bare feet hahahaha!!!
11. He'll sit beside the bed and just rest his head on the mattress and stare at you... (this means you have a short time before he needs to go outside)
12. He enjoys car rides and we'll take him with us even for short runs to the store where he has to stay in the car. He'd rather do that and be with us in the car then wait at home with the whole apt to himself.
13. he doesn't get car sick.

I can probably think of more, but that is a lot.

Yay for rabbits!

Sammy Fluffybottom our 1 year old Netherland Dwarf Rabbit.
- He has loved being held like a baby since we met him and continues to love cradled bunny time.
- He asks for mommy-bunny cuddle time every morning when I wake up by standing on his hind legs and pressing his little nose against the bars of his enormous cage until I pick him up.
- He's adorable. Everybody says so. Our vet, who only deals with exotics, says he's the cutest bunny he's ever seen and calls him "handsome". The nurses there want to take him home....
- He poses for pictures. He'll even do it with children.
- He knows the sound of the fridge drawer where we keep the fresh veggies, and reminds you that you should give him some of whatever you're having from there by running back and forth!
- If we let him roam the living room he will usually, at some point, curl up by your feet like a little bunny-puppy. He has napped in my lap.
- When he broke his leg in January he was SO good natured that he let us pick him up and never once tried to bite us.
- He was a real trooper through his surgery and only undid his bandage twice in 6 weeks, plus, even though we had to give him awful antibiotics twice a day he still acted like the loving sweet-tempered little bun we had come to love.
- He seems to enjoy our company as much as we enjoy his.
- He has never humped ANYTHING....

So much to love, the list goes on. Best 2500 I ever spent was having his broken leg fixed. Now he's 100% and we have NO regrets about the money (except that we should have had pet insurance. that has now been rectified.)

We love the bunny kisses so much we almost came home from the pet store with another bun today. Such a cutie, but we're worried about how Sammy would take it, if he would feel upset, rejected, or territorial. Plus, you can't tell the sex of the tiny bunnies. Would Sammy fight with it if its a boy, what to do if its a girl.

Is it smart to get another bun? Sammy just seems so happy I hate to screw him up...
