nak

Ever since ds2 was born, it's been painful whenever he latches on, but only on the right side. I am at a loss as to why that is. The other side is perfect and doesn't hurt at all.

I had mastitis over the weekend so that might be causing the pain now; I also developed a blister on it. I've also been getting a pain on the right side of my back - I guess across from where my sore breast is, but why?

I also thought it could have been thrush, but would I really only have it on one side? His tongue has a white coating on it and I tried using some gentian violet a few weeks back, but I really didn't notice any improvement.

Any advice would be wonderful.

I think it is a handedness thing. Everyone of my friend's & I had one side that just always seemed more difficult. But now my sore side is ok most of the time so it does get better.

I had one side that gave me problems too at the beginning. It eventually went away.

It could be thrush, I know it's possible to have thrush without symptoms, so maybe you are only have symptoms in one breast?

Mastitis could also be the culprit. Is it a pain on the nipple, or deeper in the breast? Does it hurt only when she latches on and goes away or does it continue the entire time she nurses on that side?

It's no fun, I remember!

Thanks for the input, ladies! It was better today - it comes and goes. I figure it is probably one of those things that will go away with time. I completely forgot I had it with ds1 for a few months. Hopefully it won't last as long, but at least the milk blister went away

Thanks again!
