She absolutely doesn't like to be put in the kangaroo hold in her sling or anything that squeezes her belly. Just curious if anyone knows why this is

I think some babes (mine being one of them) have to get used to the idea. It took me quite some time to get her happily into a sling.

What I ended up doing was carrying my sling around her but not her in the sling, if that makes sense. Some of it might be the smell too - the sling doesn't smell like your shirt. Maybe it was a developmental thing too but at one point, she just let me put her in the sling for a few minutes an the next time a few more minutes, etc etc.

You also might want to ask on the babywearing forum too. Maybe over there they'll have some suggestions.

I am in the same position. She hates it. I have tried a few times with her facing out but I am going to keep trying now that she is a little older. She likes to be held that way just not slung.

My babe just started liking the sling and only for short periods. I started when she was sleepy and she would fall asleep while I was carrying her. I do the front carry as she likes to look out as well. I can't wait until I can do the hip carry. I think she's really going to like that.

Yeah, from the beginning my DS (almost 4 mos now) has only gone for the sling when he's sleeping (and he sleeps very well in it). Other times he likes the Mei Tai or Ergo. If I put him in a sling when he's awake, he just starts standing up and squirming around. I think it's just his temperament. He's very active and intense!
