I decided to pop over to babycenter to check out the diapering forum (diaperpin was down) and the first thing I see is a post from a mom wondering what to take to the hospital so she can keep nice soft cloth on his booty right from the start.

In the second paragraph she says "and what about the circumcision?"

She might as well put sandpaper on his butt if she doesn't care about cutting the end of his penis off!!!!!!!! I just got sick to my stomach.

I'm sorry- but I had to laugh at your saying "sandpaper"! That's true though... What about all those people who go out of their way to be sooooooo "AP" in their parenting- even some that homebirth!- then go ahead and circ without a second thought. In fact, I have a story on my site to that effect.... Let me link to it!

I also don't understand why some women go out of the way to brag about being AP and still circ. I've seen mothers with "breastfed, cloth diapered, sling carried, co-sleeping" (etc) in their sig, talking about their son's circ.

The mainstream boards can be very depressing. Have you ever read a circ thread on one? So much "look like daddy," "it's cleaner", "I don't like uncirc'd penises," "i've heard horror stories about infections" etc. It's hard to believe there are people who blindly believe these myths without doing any research first.

Yes, there is a seller of cloth diapers that advertises "parenting naturally" all over her site. She showed up on a certain circ debate board and ended up saying something to the effect of "I'm twice as determined to circ him now because of all of you!! So there!!".

Sorry, no. My finger flew to the log off before I could take a breath. I felt violated. I think I'm crustier than I am, but totally afraid of saying the wrong thing. People get soo defensive that I'm afraid of being responsible for some one saying " Now I'll circ for sure just to prove a point." I do bring it up with expecting mommas IRL because they can see my face and know I'm truly concerned rather than militant... although so far the one friend got angry at me anyway. Her 2 DSs are cut and she hasn't spoken to me much since I brought my intact DS home... sad....
