Tomatoes often have a first flush of bloom that may not set fruit, however, it can also be caused by too hot or too cool temperatures at night, lack of water or overwatering (hard to do with a young tomato but if your soil is not well drained then it's possible). When did you plant them? Are they smaller tomatoes or big, beefsteak varieties? In other words, it can happen. Also, are you using pesticides that may be killing pollinating insects. I know it's not likely, especially since you are from California on a natural family message board, but thought I would ask just in case. :LOL And, some biological/organic pest controls can kill beneficial pollinators, so I guess it's a good thing to ask

It's been a dry spring here, and the tomatoes took a little longer. You won't see actual fruit until the blooms fall off (if it just started blooming). Then you should start to see some tiny green tomatoes that will get bigger.

Are the blossoms dropping? Like, the flowers appear but then after a few days, they just fall off leaving sad little stems? If that's what's happening, then your flowers aren't getting pollinated. You can try dusting over the flowers with a feather or planting some marigolds near your tomatoes.

The fruit themselves will 'set' right inside what used to be the flower, but it will take a while for you to be able to see that this has happened.
