I talked about this in chat last night, but wanted to post this here.

I love how soft DA makes my diapers. Even my stiff hemp is as floppy as a cotton washcloth. However, my pocket dipes are repelling like crazy. I don't use the DA on my pocket dipes, I usually remove them and then do a final rinse with a tbsp of the DA. I guess my pockets are picking up enough residue in the other cycles from the other diapers that it is effecting them. So, unless I get the inckling to wash my pockets completely separate, I'm surrendering my DA. If my dipes get stiff again, I will start doing two loads, or hand washing my pockets. I'm even wondering if my inserts having DA on them would cause a problem...we'll see I suppose.

Off to do lots of hot washes with sensiclean...

I use it only on my cpf's. I wash all my pocket diapers separately and hang them to dry. I only use the DA every third wash or so.

I hope you get things figured out

Well, what I do is use the DA every 3 weeks or so. And, I also remove my pocket dipes from the wash before adding it in. I've found that using the DA sparingly really helps.

I tried DA once, and everything was softer, but GAH the smell was awful. I opened the cupboard where I keep the dipes and almost fell over. I've gotta find someone who wants a whole jug of fabric softener now

I bought it for my ME OS which are also quite scratchy without it. As far as chemicals-- there's always the risk your dd may be sensitive to the perfumes. I wish they made it without a scent! But they really do make a huge difference in how the ME dipes feel.
