I'm not a mama, but here's what I think:
1. ignorance. I only learned about it this year when I was taking pre-cana for our wedding, and it wasn't a lesson, just some couple talking about it. A friend on another board told me about TCOYF.
2. When you make a mistake using NFP/FAM, it's extra bad, b/c it's going to be around your fertile time. The change of error around your fertile time is less w/ bcp/condoms/etc... b/c you are using that through your whole cycle as if you are always fertile. I'm explaining this poorly, but it's in TCOYF on p. 359.
3. It takes more "work" than most any other contraception. It requires waking at the same time every day and checking cervical fluid when you go to the bathroom.
4. I think a lot of women find messing w/ their vaginas "gross". It's certainly not what most are raised to do, and I think almost everyone goes through an "ewwww" period when they are learning NFP/FAM. It's easy to get over, IMO, but it's there.
