I am at a loss as to why I am having nipple soreness now. Maggie is almost 18 mos. and the nipple on my left bb has been really sore for the past week. The right one was a little sore this morning. AF just came to visit- could that have something to do with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I haven't had post-partum AF yet, but I have heard other mamas say they get sore nipples/breasts from that.

Other thoughts - could it be yeast/thrush? Have you or dd had antibiotics lately? Is there a stabbing/burning pain esp. when she nurses?

Could it be a plugged duct? Is there any breast tenderness?

Could she be teething and maybe not latching as well as she used to, or gnawing on your breast to relieve her discomfort?

Check out www.kellymom.com on breastfeeding - maybe you wil find an answer poking around there.

HTH!

I always end up with sore nipples each time DS cuts a new tooth. That's the first sign he's getting one! I think their little mouths must feel different, and maybe they have to readjust their nursing. For me, the soreness lasts a week or so, then diminishes.

Just my 2 cents!

Good luck!
