<p>So just a friendly PSA, since I didn't know this for my first<img alt=":wink" src="http://files.mothering.com/images/smilies/winky.gif" style="">......For your hospital bag or at home supply kit make sure to pick up a tiny empty cosmetics bottle for $1 in the travel section. The little plastic ones with a flip or squirt top. Then fill with some olive oil!</p>

<p>If you put this on baby's clean bottom from their first diaper on it makes it SO MUCH EASIER to change baby as they're passing meconium the first few days. What is a tar like, horrible thing to scrape of baby's sensitive bottom, slides off easily if you've put olive oil first.</p>

<p>Yep, we do this too!  Coconut oil works well too.  Just something to put a slick barrier between butt and poop.  </p>

<p>yes! we learned this trick from our midwife with our last baby and I just passed along the info to my friend who is due with her first in the next few weeks. Really helps so much!</p>

<p>I didn't think of it either, our midwife did when we used her for #2. With #1 I scraped his poor bum to get that yucky stuff off for the first few days and it was miserable. </p>

<p><img alt=":thumb" src="http://files.mothering.com/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="">I took DD2 to the beach as an infant and she got actual gooey tar on her bare bottom.  NOTHING would take that stuff off, then I found through a google search that I should try olive oil on a cotton ball.  She was clean quickly with no additional irritation.  DP and I have successfully used it to remove stage makeup & Halloween makeup as well.</p>
