Why????

O.K. mamas. I'm trying really hard to understand CDing and get started but PLEASE tell me:

Why do you buy such sweet, cute, beautiful dipes that need covers???

Don't you just end up covering them? Do you use them w/out covers and change more often?

Maybe I'm just really dense. I understand AIOs, and PFs w/ covers, or
plain-ish dipes w/covers. I really don't get these stunning dipes that need covers.
:

HELP!!! Thanks

I think everyone asks that when they first start CDing. It's more for you, when you change. I think it also has to do w/ordering. It fun to pick out pretty prints. also, around the house when they start getting mobile a lot of mama's go w/out covers. I prefer naked dipes myself, but I also have cute prints.
I've been wondering the same thing... but if I had lots of cash on hand I might buy them just so I could look at them and cherish them while I'm a folding them. My newest desire is to dye my prefolds myself - less money spent - and then I'd have these beautiful colors to surprise me when I change by ds... we'll see when I have the time on hand

Yep we enjoy the prints when we go coverless in the house

Especially in the summer months!

Hmmm... I never wondered why, lol.

OK, the reason I do it is simple: It makes me happy. It's a small thing that makes me happy and that's a good enough reason IMO. Also, when I'm happy my baby is happy. When I lay her down to change her and I am face to face with her and I take the time to smile at her and to enjoy every aspect of her care (yes, even poopies) then she feels worthy and loved.

We go coverless to here in the summer and in the winter too since we keep the house so warm. I save the AIO's for when we are going out. Or I put a really cute wool cover on.
But at home it's just a fitted dipe and a tee (sometimes no tee)

I let the girls go coverless some times. And aside from the super cute dipes being CUTE, they work well and better than the not so cute ones that we have tried.

we dont use a wool cover unless we have to put clothes over the diaper, and we rarely have to. in the winter when we go out we cover him. at home he almost NEVER wears a cover. now that hes almost 2 though, sometimes he wants to wear a particular one, based on the color.
he is such a sweetum.

in the heat of summer we even go out coverless.

I buy them because they're fun! I like to see the prints when I change Holden; they make me smile! I also let him go coverless around the house now that it's hot, so I'm not covering them up a lot of the time. Someone once likened it to why you would buy yourself fancy/pretty underwear/bras - it just makes you feel good

Yep something that goes through everyone's mind when they first start out.
Why get a cute diaper that will be covered up??

We go coverless a lot. Just a t-shirt and diaper around the house.
A cute diaper staring at you from the floor when he's head down butt in the air.
It helps for those times when there is red monkey butt (too much juice yesterday
) and I'll see that he's damp a lot quicker and change him every 45 minute to an hour.

I try to get really cute covers too. :LOL It does make you smile when you open that cover and that super cute diaper is there. And it's sweet when they get attached to certain diapers. My DD had favorite ones that she always wanted if it was clean. Of course I'm the same way
I always grab certain ones when they are clean. They make me smile.

I'm a nut, I guess. I really only buy plain fitteds, like Sugarpeas or other plain hemp ones, and splurge on the pretty wool. Occasionally, if I have been really wanting to try something, I will buy the print fitted if that's all I can get my hands on.

We used to use exclusively AIOs, so I have LOTS of beautiful AIOs for showing off when it's not too hot to wear them.

I think I am just anal about things matching. So I'd rather have the plain fitteds to go with all my covers. Cause I know I would be a little weird about putting a green dinosaur diaper on her with a pink flowered soaker. I'm just crazy. I match her diapers to her outfits, too.

WHAT?? Doesn't everybody do this?? I thought this was the norm...

Seriously I do this a lot too. Especially for DD when she wore diapers. They HAD to match with her clothes in some form or fashion. We had a lot of covers that matched outfits with several fitted of the same fabics especially the Carters knits!).

to see a cute little print when I pull the cover off

I used to wonder the same thing. But now I just love picking out cute prints. It's also fun seeing them when I need to change the diaper and picking out the next one.

Now I know why you mamas have addiction issues too!! :LOL

Pretty diapes that you cover up, dipes that have to match covers, and dipes that match clothes

I will not be sucked in, I will not be sucked in, I will not be sucked in!!!!

Yes, we do the same.
I rarely use a cover during the day unless we're going somewhere!
