I just don't understand! I am exclusively BF, he's never had a drop of anything other than mama's milk!!! I had felt crampy a couple days ago but thought "no way." Besides, I can always feel when I ovulate (wonderful for TTC) and I didnt notice anything, and I know after NOT for a year I totally would have been aware of it. I am sooooo sad. I had decided to buy mama pads but kept putting it off b/c I figured I had plenty of time. WTF? I am so distraught, I didnt even bother to search to forum for similar posts. I know it's not unheard of to have a period while bf, but I thought it was unusual while exclusive bf. waaaaahhh!!

all i can say is, I'm sorry. it certainly does suck when that happens. af came back after dd the day she turned 3 months, but i know it was because she started to sleep through the night at 6 weeks.

Mine always came back at 6 weeks pp, no matter how much my babies nursed. I think for me, i have a higher estrogen level, which causes them to come back sooner. It sucks, doesn't it? Where's that year long break?

I hear you! For me both times AF came back at around 11 or 12 weeks pp. Not only that, but I had 10 weeks of major lochia with ds and a major pp hemmorhage at 2 weeks then lochia until 9 weeks with dd. Both babes coslept and breastfed round the clock. Some women are bleeders, I guess.

My periods were delayed longer than yours, but I was TRIANDEM nursing (nursing 3 siblings concurrently) and got my period back at around 8 months. At that time my 8 month old was exclusively breastfed (and a very avid nurser!), my 2 year old was nursing every 3-4 hours, and my 4 year old was nursing twice a day.

I know several women who get af back soon after giving birth. I guess it just depends on the individual.

the same thing happened to me i got mine 3 mos pp and my dd is NO WHERE near sleeping thru the night and she nurses at least every 90 mins during the day. i hate hearing all of my mainstream friends who supplement or start solids early or schedule feed and cio saying how they haven't gotten theirs. not fair!

I got what I thought was my period about 3months post partum. I got ONE DAY of period type bleeding, then it stopped, and hasn't come back (3 months later).. how weird is that?

I sympathize with ya though . Lack of AF is one big plus, IMO, of bfing.

I'm really worried abt this. I'm not on birth control and have no intentions of getting on any. I finally got DH to wait on a vas (hoping he'll come around for TTC the 3rd ), so we just use condoms. I don't know if I can take the stress of missing periods!! Suppose I should look into the IUD now, I was really hoping to aviod all this for a while. Nice to know I'm not the only one...I keep hearing abt mama's who don't get it for a year!!!

****anyone know if Freshies has stocked mamapads at any stores? I emailed her not too long ago and she said she was making some for a few retailers, but she didnt say who.

I got my period back after my daughter at 6 weeks PP. I got my period back with my twins at 12 weeks PP (and let me tell you, NEITHER ONE was sleeping through the night, they were exclusively nursed, and I was nursing their sister besides).

Some women are just lucky I guess.
