I am not a midwife, but I am in search of a midwife in northern wisconsin. I've searched the web and can only find the closest one in Appleton (3+ hours away). I am in Rhinelander and am seriously considering a homebirth in late Jan or early Feb.
I know of one about an hour or so south of you, but I am not sure if she is still practicing there. She attended the birth of my first son. We lived in Lakewood at the time. PM me if you are interested in learning more. I also have friends doing a HB in Merrill, but I haven't met their midwife. Are you looking for a CNM or a lay midwife?
I also recommend starting with the WI guild of midwives.

Personally, I don't know of anyone who practices midwifery in your neck of the woods - I'm substantially west of you.

(p.s., when I didn't find the midwife of my dreams out where I'm at, I discovered the path to unassisted birth...)

youcould also call the midwivs you found through online listings and ask them if they know/can recommend somebody in your area. you never know what might come up.
when I was looking for a MW, I found 2 MWs that are not advertising anywhere through this method.
I would try contacting NARM and MANA to see if they can give you contact info for WI midwives:
www.narm.org
www.mana.org
