I vote offensive, but what do you think?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/La_Leche_League

I'm talking about the banner in the middle of the page which reads in huge type,

Quote:
Through the '90s, LLLers were sometimes referred to as 'breastfeeding Nazis,' probably a play on the Seinfeldian term 'soup Nazi' by people who did not agree with the primary purpose of spreading breastfeeding information.

Off topic: If you go into "advanced mode" you can edit the titles on posts.

I think making that comment into a different font makes it offensive.

Hmm, it's in the same font now, is that your doing Arlecchina? Good work, if so.

it was it tab key that did all of it, all I did is remove spaces, I swear

but yeah, I could edit the rest, I think it looks a little small for how massive LLL is, and contains no citations, but I am too sleepy to overhaul it and do it all :/

It's still a huge banner for me, even after refreshing the page, but thanks for whatever you did that other people can see. Maybe if I delete my cookies???n (No, that didn't work either.)

Thanks for the MDC editing advice too.

Why not simply omit that sentence about "breastfeeding nazi"? I agree that it's offensive and I don't think it's necessary to explain what LLL is about.

OK, I deleted that sentence.

It's kinda scary how easy it is to edit Wikipedia- makes me wonder how accurate any of it is if anybody can change anything on there at any time.

there are alot of wiki nazis (forgive my sense of humour) all edits are recorded and can be checked by anyone. if something is deleted without discussion and someone disagrees, it gets hashed out. I left it intending to later look for sources

leaving it, if it is true, carries on with wikipedia's non neutral POV policy. you dont have to agree with it or admit it in an article but it doesnt make it any more or less true (IF it can be cited of course, no original research is allowed, ie if the person writing that could only source their mother, it cant be used)

It's a true enough statement. Those offended by the thought of moms being free to feeding their own babies without corporate assistance, AND daring to leave home doing so, AND daring to encourage other moms to do the same have and continue to call us "breastfeeding nazis".

That they are the ones trying to lock us up at home or in bathrooms tells me that such labelling is a matter of pure projection.

What that has to do with the history of LLL, I don't know. I find it completely irrelevent. Do they list what outsiders insultingly call other organizations too?

not in that article if that's what you're asking. but I think you mean in general, and the answer is yes. you have to look at all views to have a fully neutral article. notable criticism with references sited, yes.

I suppose. Though the other way to have a neutral article would be to stick only with verifiable facts and then leave the interpretation to the reader.

:

Although I'd only put it in if I could also find a link to what the Anti Defamation League has to say about using the term "Nazi" to refer to anyone but people who committ systematic genocide.
