I am 28 weeks pg with #2. Still head up. I don't remember when #1 turned, but I know by 30 weeks she was. The first time around, it wasn't an issue b/c I didn't really know any better.

Now, I am nearly obsessed by the uncertainty about when this baby will turn into the vertex/head down position. It seems like she is very comfortable head up... and I am anxious that she won't turn... and my anxiety will probably make things worse... as she probably feels my tension.

My midwife says there is plenty of time and aminiotic fluid to expect a turn around. She says not to worry until about 34 wks. But, me being inclined to worry about everything....

So, I need to hear from some of you with more experience on this.

I am not opposed to a breech delivery, if the midwife gives the ok.

Youre completely within normal range but I know your worry. My 2nd didn't turn until after 30 weeks and same with this baby. It needs to gain enough weight and grow enough to have gravity pull its head down. The heaviest part will turn to the bottom.

I would advocate for you to not stress about it b/c you don't want your uterine muscles to tense up at all making it harder for baby to turn. Just concentrate and visualize it happening and talk to the baby to turn. In fact actually both of mine were transverse until about 32 weeks which scared me more than frank breech since there's no way around a c/s with transverse. But sure enough after enough talking to them and time they both turned.

If you ended up past 34 weeks there are still so many things that you can do: go see a chiropractor to do the webster's technique, go to www.spinningbabies.com for some ideas, hypnosis is helpful as well (esp for helping to relax those muscles to allow baby to turn).

I know so many people whose babies were breech until just a few weeks or even days before the baby was born. My MIL with her 6th and last child who was mid 9 lbs was breech until a couple of days before she went into labor. My friend here recently always has hers breech until around 36+ weeks. She swears by putting music down by where the head needs to turn and frozen veggies on the top of her stomach.

Best of luck. Think positive and right now just give the baby time to do what it needs to do.

No worries, lots of time. My last one turned at 36 weeks. If you get to 35 and baby is still head up find yourself a chiropractor certified in Webster.

So, 28 weeks is too early for intervention, then?

I should wait until about 34 weeks before taking action. My midwife did say that she doesn't worry until about 34 weeks.

Or, is there something I should do now? I am going to focus on relaxing about it. That should do me a world of good, too.

I also agree about not worrying- although I know how you feel. My first baby didn't turn until the very end and we used the chiropractic accupressure Webster technique. There are also exercises and things you can do to coerce the baby to flip. My dhs favorite was his job of talking to the baby from where we WANTED her head to be so she'd rotate in an effort to be closer to his voice. Try not to stress out. Most babues turn!
