I guess I just want input on this to emotionally prepare myself. My DD has always eaten pretty frequently. At 4 months she almost NEVER goes more than 2 hours during the day between feedings. At night she goes one 4-5 hour stretch and then back to every 2 hours or less. I know she's getting a ton of milk. I can hand pump 8 oz in less than 10 minutes from one side. Today she's been wanting to nurse almost every hour : AND nursing for longer than she usually does. Everyone (parents, friends) tells me that she should be going longer between feedings now. Is this normal? When did your child start to space out their feedings more?

Oh, and She was 7lbs and 20 inches at birth and at 4 months was 16lbs5oz and 27 inches, so, obviously, she's growing fine

This is all very normal for a breast-fed baby. It sounds as if you are doing really beautifully with her. She is probably breastfeeding more frequently now because she is undergoing a growth spurt and so is feeding more often.
That's the beauty of breastfed babies. When they need more, they feed more and you produce more.
I am 52 and happily watching my first grandchild grow just as well as your baby is thanks to her mother's milk.
I love to hear successful breastfeeding stories as it brings me back to my breastfeeding days many years ago.
The people who tell you she should be going longer in between feedings must be thinking of formula fed babies. Breastmilk-being the perfect food that it is-is much more easy to digest so the baby needs to eat more often than a formula fed baby.
You are doing wonderfully well-keep up the good mothering.

Normal my 9 month old is like this she eats all day long and is JUST NOW starting to go all night with only 1 feeding. It can be frustrating but it is normal (((HUGS))))

My first dd nursed like that. Never went longer than 1 1/2 or 2 hours. Believe it or not, but I miss it so much!!! 10 week old dd2 would rather starve that nurse and it makes me I WISH that my new little one would nurse like yours does!!! Just consider yourself blessed, and enjoy this time with your dd because even though it seems like it now, so won't nurse forever. Hugs.
