I wouldn't worry. Some babies track small, sometimes you actually ovulate later than you thought you did, but as long as the heartbeat was strong, I don't see anything to worry about.

Ultrasound is not linked to an increase in miscarriage, if that is what you are asking. There are some studies that say that repeated ultrasounds may affect the baby- but the study found things like "increased left handedness"- nothing to painc about. I think it is best to have as few as possible, but not to worry if its necessary.

I wouldn't worry about the ultrasounds, as long as they aren't daily!
How sure about your dates are you? Measuring behind can be bad- however once you hear that heartbeat things are staistically most likely to turn out fine. Since you are hearing the strong hb I would think you are just off on your dates.

What my midwife said about ultrasounds is, "If they had a really bad effect, you'd be seeing a lot of damaged kids walking around. Especially with multiples and high risk pregnancies, some of those women get gobs of ultrasounds." (She did say 'gobs,' too.) Yeah...true enough, I guess, but on the other hand, there is some evidence that the sound waves can heat the cells, and I think it's prudent only to do them for medically indicated reasons, not just to get baby photos or find out the sex or to have a "keepsake video." Here's an article from Mothering Magazine that discusses this further. If you have questions, do your research, make sure you are giving truly informed consent to the procedure.

The womb doesn't have a window, and there is something really sacred about that unseeable interior space where new life is forming. I think it honors that space to leave it a mystery, but it's really hard to get away from that impulse to KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON IN THERE!

Hey Hansika - my son tracked small on early ultrasound and worried my OB, but his heartbeat was always good and strong. He was born right on time, ate fine, grew beautifully, and now that he's learned to run, I can barely keep up with him.

As long as the heartbeat is good, I would not worry.
