You can get kite paper at just about any waldorf supplier either on the net or locally. If you have a local waldorf school they may have a small supply shop.
Here's one online supplier but they are expensive. I get my packs for $3.50
Here are some instructions for the basic one. There are more elaborate patterns in waldorf books around the net.

We made some last week for the first time (using the same instructions as above) and my dd(5) had a blast. We couldn't find kite paper locally so just used origami paper which had lots of different sized paper, so we have stars in all sizes!

we got our patterns from the christms craft book from nova natural. heres some i made yesterday for dd's room we have tons more to make!
