I have had the driest nose for a month now...it hurts so much and has even gotten swollen because of sores I have gotten from the dryness.,..I swear my lungs feel dried out too!<br><br>
Anyone know why this would happen so severely?<br><br>
I'm in a new apartment...is it something w/ the heat here?<br><br>
Dehydration?<br><br>
Can your lungs be affected by this also?<br><br>
I ordered a humidifier from ebay last night...cant wait to get that baby going!!!

Humidifier was a wise decision!<br><br>
Air gets so-o-o dry in the winter due to heaters being almost constantly on - humidifier is ON all night in my room.<br><br>
And I have a big one, I call it "industrial strength" (evaporates about 1 to 1.5 gallons per night)<br><br>
Small ones just don't cut it for me - I do not notice any difference with them<br><br>
Oh and humidity is good for your skin in general - you may see slight plesant changes in a few nights.<br><br>
And yes, your lungs , your bronchi, lining inside your nose - all that gets affected by lack of humidity.

I would like to learn more about humidifiers, and what brands work best. Also,<br>
do they grow mold, how to prevent them from growing mold in a warm, moist environment?

I dont know too much about them but, the cheap ones spray white dust all over the place...it cant be good for you although I dont know any more about that.<br><br>

it says it has AgION antimicrobial filter technology and along with keeping it clean I think that should be enough to keep bacteria & mold from growing.<br><br>

i have a humidifier in my baby's room and in our family room. We have electric heat right now and it is SOOO dry. Plus the humidifier will make the room feel warmer and probably help with your heating bill. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile"> Dry heat doesnt feel as warm as moist heat (think of summertime "It's not the heat it's the humidity. " <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/ROTFLMAO.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="rotflmao"> )<br><br>
I have never had any mold develop. I did get a little mildew when we left it sitting with water and not on (oops) The antimicrobial filters keep that from happening.<br><br>

Mine is 3 gallons, it's Envirocare trademark and comes with Antimicrobial cleaning cartrige too. It also is an ionizer as well.<br><br>
To be frank, I am not completely happy with it - it's noisier then my previous one (which I do not remember the name of <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/img/vbsmilies/smilies/eyesroll.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="roll"> and can not find it in the stores any more)<br><br>
I "abused" my previous one by forgeting to turn it off when there was no water left and it died in 3 years <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/greensad.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="greensad"><br><br>
I looked at the one you bought - I like it! Price is good too, mine is comparable to it and I paid around $50 for it.<br><br>
Hope it comes soon and you will have nice and humid room <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/thumb.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="thumbs up">

It says it is an ionizer and kills bacteria in the air, but I can not smell bacteria anyways, LOL<br><br>
Guess, I would not know whether it was doing it or not :LOL

I think any flowing water adds ions to the air...I heard something about this pertaining to fountains...ever notice how being next to a big fountain feels so good...like positive energy if flowing around it <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/love.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="love"><br>
