I'm not sure what I'm looking for here - support? Suggestions? I don't know.

DD is almost 5 months old and she doesn't get yet that she can unlatch without pulling my nipple across the room. It seems worse when there's other things going on in the room, so I've tried going to quieter rooms, less distractions, etc (which is killing my lactivist tendencies
. But she does it even if we're in bed and there's nothing else around. Ugh. My nipples are killing me.

Between this and her tendency to "slurp" the nipple in, I'm almost feeling like she's a newborn again. Is it possible to get an older infant to open her mouth more?

No advice, but both my 3 wk old twins use the yank-n-release method if I don't catch them first so I know how you feel. I've been watching to anticipate the unlatching and stick my little finger into the corner of the babe's mouth to break the seal. It does save some wear and tear on the nips. I'm hoping they'll forget this technique if I interrupt it often enough. Good luck.

mine is 3 month and does this weird...releases the suck but still pulls off with his mouth, so I dont have any pain. before that he was pulling it "across the room" (good way of putting it
) but he stopped doing it on his own, I was at a loss cause they do it fast, how can you anticipate to prevent it??
