This may be a silly question, but I've been back at work for 3 weeks and can't figure it out. How do you transport your pump supplies to and from work?

I leave my pump at the office but take the bottles, shields, membranes, etc. back and forth everyday to clean them. I use two gallon-sized Ziploc bags: one for the clean stuff and then one to put the dirty stuff in after each use. I can reuse the bag for the clean stuff easily enough but not the dirty one. It starts to smell, even if I rinse it out when I get home. I don't want to use a new bag everyday because it just seems so wasteful, but I don't know what else to do.

So, how do you do it?

I have a PIS w/ storage compartments, and I bring it loaded up to and from the office. It doesn't get smelly -- at least not to my nose. I wipe out the compartments every now & then w/ a hot soapy washcloth just for good measure.

I suppose I could leave the pump at work, but it's a borrowed pump, and I'd hate for it to get stolen, or accidentally broken, or whatever. Also, I occasionally want to pump at night or in the morning, so I like to have it with me.

I used an insulated lunch bag from Target...it has two zippered insulated compatrments (I think the top compartment was designed for a drink or something like that and the bottom compartment for a sandwich...the top is sort of triangular and the bottom rectangular).

Anyway I keep the ice pack and bottles in the top compartment and the pump pieces in the bottom. I rinse the used pump pieces in the bathroom sink after use, then wrap them in paper towels and put them back in the insulated bottom compartment. I take them out and sterilize them each evening and wipe out the compartment with a little hot water and hydrogen peroxide. On days off I leave the bag open (sometimes in the sun) to let it air out I've used the same bag for over a year and it doesn't smell yet!
