Went to the doctor today, for my 2nd visit, (14 weeks) which included an U/S, due to the fact I've had 2 cervical surgeries in the past.

Got to the office, and it was WALL TO WALL people!! Turns out, they were running 1 to 1 1/2 hours behind. Brett wanted to leave immediately, but I talked him into staying.

Went back to U/S, and the tech was kind of brusque/matter-of fact. She did a vaginal U/S (yuck), and told me my cervix looked a-OK. I asked her to take a peep at the baby, since we were already there .. she said, sure, no problem. I only glanced at the screen long enough to see the heartbeat. (I did not want the temptation of TRYING to guess the baby's sex)

She then asked me ... "have you had this baby scanned before?" I said, "no", and she said .. "I'm getting ready to rock your world!" I started crying ... just KNEW what she was going to tell me!! She then proceeded to show us BOTH of the baby beans!!
Our baby BEANS
Babies were the same size, doing fine.

We sat around the office, waiting then to see the OB, crying/laughing/stressing about everything we have to get done!! The OB checked me over, gave me the "twins talk" .... She measured my fundus today, and I'm measuring at 20 weeks!!
--more folate/calcium
-- plenty of rest
-- 2800 calories a day .... who in the heck can eat that!!!!
-- recommended weaning DD#2 .. SIGH. Not looking forward to this ...
-- "you might consider cutting back at work" .... since I am an ER nurse. I'm not sure who will pay my bills if I do that, however!!

So .... I'm spazzing a bit. I am without a doubt, blessed beyond my wildest dreams ..... and scared out of my wits!!
I just have to take a deep breath ... one thing at a time!!!

Congrats!

2800 calories is hard, I know but it can be done. Think extra protein and dairy. My OB had suggested upping my milk to whole and avoiding "low fat" or "low cal" foods. When I got to 20 weeks with my twins, I had gained 20 pounds.

Wow how exciting for you guys!!! I was eating 2800 calories/day when I was doing triathlons too - it's a lot of food. I ended up bringing 2 sandwiches for lunch each day instead of one. Whole millk and whole milk yogurt instead of lowfat. Put some extra peanut butter on your crackers. Have an egg AND a bowl of cereal for breakfast. And don't worry about that milkshake that you indulge in It's actually kind of fun - especially around the holidays when there's so much good food to be had. Congrats on your twins!!
