Dh got a raise. Quite a big one for this area compared to what we were used to (50 cent raises). It should be almost 30%. This means we will no longer get food stamps or fuel assistance, so the net affect on our income won't be quite as big, but I'm glad to no longer need those things. Now I don't have to worry about recertification appt's, the looks of cashiers & other people at the grocery store, and maybe if I ever decide to try to make some extra money doing something part time, I could. Before it wouldn't have made any sense to do anything part time because after child care and the cut in food stamps, we probably would have lost money.

Yay! I honestly can't believe they gave him such a big raise.

edited for typo -they bug me and I just can't leave them

That's wonderful! It's especially nice that you can work part-time if you want to - it must be a terrible place to be in to know that you would lose money if you tried to bring some extra in.

Thanks I'm not looking at working right now, but there were times extra expenses came up like medical/car repairs/etc that the thought crossed my mind that it might help to get a temp job for awhile to cover it. But then I would realize we wouldn't actually make any money if I did so and it would only cause added stress from trying to arrange childcare. It's too bad the programs that are supposed to help you trap you like that.

I'm just glad that I have that as an option now.
