Dh and I wanted to go out to eat last night. I wanted to go to IHOP because I really enjoy pancakes, hashbrowns and fruit this pregnancy. I have terrible food aversions still. But dh did not want to go to IHOP. Instead, he wanted to go to Applebee's. I might have resisted it more, but I figured they'd probably have decent soup, and the last restaurant we went to (about 2 weeks ago) was IHOP, and dh is leaving for IRAQ in just a few weeks, so I was trying to indulge him too.

So, they had no decent soup, only one was french onion and I can't handle onions right now. And nothing on the menu was without meat (I'm not vegetarian, but I think this baby is ) and/or bland enough. So, I decided to get buttermilk fried shrimp and fries. I know, it's not a very healthy choice, but it was the only thing on the menu that looked remotely good to me. And it actually tasted pretty good.

But as soon as we left the restaurant I was regretting my food choice. My stomach hurt all night. I resisted the urge to throw up for several hours. But after a bowl of applesauce (I thought it might settle my stomach) and some Sprite, I lost it. Ugh, it was the most painful throw up yet. My throat was burning, it hurt so bad.

My morning sickness has been mostly gone for a week and a half now, but today I have felt sick all day. Morning sickness and gas pains. Ugh. I hope this goes away by tomorrow. I was starting to enjoy not having morning sickness. I don't think I'll eat another fried thing or any shrimp the rest of this pregnancy. This baby likes pancakes, whole grains (like plain pasta with some butter or whole wheat crackers), fruit, fruit, and more fruit, and that's about it. I don't think I'll be veering from my safe foods for awhile now!

I had Applebee's for dinner last night too, and it wasn't good, but at least it didn't make me sick. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm so sorry, that's awful! I had awful acid reflux for the second half of my first pregnancy and I remember throwing up once so violently that I thought it was going to come out of my eye sockets (and it did come out of my nose). blegh! I hope you feel better soon.

I used to like Applebees but haven't been happy with it the last couple of times. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the steak was still meowing it was so rare. I had to send it back.

That's funny Gina since they say they won't cook anything rare (I don't know it that's only in my state, but it was in the menu and we actually saw a couple leave angry because he tried to order a steak rare and they wouldn't do it.) DH said his stuff was really greasy too and he felt a bit sick, though not as bad as me. I used to love Applebee's, but it's really going to be a long time before I try them again.

I'm not as nice as you. When I want something I want THAT and he'd better not deny me. LOL

I am feeling much better today. Morning sickness is mostly gone. I still get nauseous if I wait too long to eat and sometimes I have trouble gaging that, but overall, I'm feeling much better today than yesterday.

That is awful and I don't think I will be eating at appelbees at all through this pregnancy. I ate there my last pregnancy and was only able to take a couple of bites. It made me sick too. I hope you feel better soon!

That sounds horrible... *hug* I can't eat any fried foods anymore so maybe that's what did it for you? The one time that I actually tossed my cookies, it was after hashbrowns. *shudders*

I'm a vegetarian, but baby isn't! I had Ruby Tuesday's white chicken chilie (5 bites--first meat in 3 years!) Well, I have never had such tummy troubles! Awful cramping! Baby can deal with being veg from now on.

You all just made me think of the Dharma and Greg episode where Dharma's mom is pregnant and they're all having dinner together. Greg says, "hey, isn't your mom vegetarian Dharma" (as her mom is chowing on fried chicken). Dharma says "yeah, but the baby's not and she doesn't want to push her views on the baby." I love it! I imagine meat would do a number on your stomach if you haven't had any in 3 years, Aimee.

I'm sure it was the fact that it was fried food. I still feel a bit gross today. Ugh. I haven't had any (deep) fried food (except for an occasional french fry off the kids plate) in quite awhile, probably several months. Oh well, lesson learned. I feel pretty yucky tonight and I had hashbrowns earlier. I guess my body can't handle the grease.

Aimee . I'm veg and have been for 8 yrs, but I'll admit the bacon my DH cooks has been smelling SOOO good. Still won't eat it, and fortunately for me I don't have a craving, but man the smell....

Yeah, I can't imagine my stomach would be happy if I tried to eat meat right about now...

I'm so the opposite yogachick. The smell of any meat disgusts me right now. I nearly throw up when my dh cooks bacon or hotdogs. Ack!!!

*shudder* I can't think about this too deep but DH bought some lunchmeat.
I told him he has to eat it ONLY when I'm not there. It smells nasty.
