Won't sleep in cloth - trim combo for heavy wetter??

430 Views 10 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  JennInSeattle
We have only been CDing a short time now but dd has been sleeping terribly, up much more often than usual. In the past week she has developed a habit of pooping after she gets into her bedtime diaper
: and so has ended up in a disposable a few times because I have such a limited stash.
I am wondering if my Wonderoos with 15 layers of hemp stuffed in are just too bulky for her to be comfortable....Any suggestions for a more trim combination that will hold up to a heavy wetter?

Well the beauty of a fitted diaper (or prefold) is that the absorbancy wraps all around and so there's just more of it than 15 layers in the wet zone, kwim? Personally I use a toddler prefold so I'm not the foremost expert on nighttime diapers for the general diapering community but I do have a trifold fitted diaper from Darling Diapers is the most absorbant fitted I own.. man that thing takes forever just to get the front wet! lol

I'm sure these ladies will have great suggestions but I would consider moving away from a pocket to something that gives absorbancy all through the diaper and perhaps an inexpensive wool cover. The Trading Post has a ton of stuff up right now.

I know I sound like a broken record, but I honestly can not say enough for FF Sleeptights . They are expensive, but worth every penny! Josh is a heavy wetter and they are one of the few things that will hold him overnight (with a wool cover). You can find them on the TP occasionaly for less. I've also heard Night Lights from Fluffymail are great (I have 3 on the way), but they are harder to get
HTH Good luck mama

ETA: the sleeptights are pretty bulky, but probably not as bad as 15 layers in a pocket!

I just wanted to comment that if you're interested in a pocket fitted like a Night Light then you might be interested in a pocket fitted from www.darlingdiapers.com (sorry to plug her twice, not really my intention but apparently they are on my mind this morning! lol). I know people who use Night Lights and DD pocket fitteds for nighttime with heavy wetters.

Maybe take out some of your hemp stuffing and substitute a microfiber towel or two (sams club 20/9.99).

BTW could it be teething instead of a diaper issue? Poor sleep and erratic pooping are sure signs my dd has new teeth coming in.
I'm pretty sure it's the diaper - the few nights that she has slept in a sposie have been soooo much better for her sleep.
I have a super heavy wetter, too. The best combo we have found has been a fitted from TenderBeginnings and a wool soaker or cover. Ella was completely soaking thru a hemp pocket with 9 layers of hemp suffed in it and waking up in the middle of the night completely wet!
The TB fitteds seem to just hold it all in soooo much better and they are much trimmer than a super stuffed pocket

HTH~

I agree with Jenn, pockets suck (hmmm, maybe not her words
) for heavy-wetters at night. A fitted plus a doubler or three works much better.

I started with Sandies plus vast quantities of hemp and that worked well, but now I'm moving into more hyena-esque dipes, I find a Little Caboose or FCB are trimmer and just as absorbant (I do have to add another stuffer). I just got my first Nightlight and I can't wait to try it. It is such a cool design!

That's my life. I ride a fine line trying not to offend anyone. Or backtracking madly when I open my big yap without thinking.
