My ds got some haba at 10 mos because he was obsessed with eating our neighbors plastic food. We got the pear, apple, orange, carrot and roll. The only one that was too small for him was the carrot. He LOVES the pear!

We got these from A Toy Garden and dd (age 2) loves them. We don't let her chew on them and discourage her from putting them in her mouth because, imo, no toy is safe, but these are better than most.<br><br><a href="http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1186&CFID=9154054&CFTOKEN=7db8c279de70ab57-8A24E846-D61C-E357-D9CBFB90393AC650" target="_blank">http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?...CBFB90393AC650</a><br><br><a href="http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=1185" target="_blank">http://www.atoygarden.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=1185</a>

DS has the Plan Toys cutting food that I got for him when he was about 18 mos. He loved cutting the food. Now he plays with them with his kitchen. FYI, they start flinging wooden toys so I wouldn't get too many just yet. I made DS some fleece food (cookies and a hamburger). Etsy.com is a great place to buy handmade play food, as well as other handmade things.

A lot of the Haba food is big enough to be safe, IMO. The potato, pumpkin, and carrot (not the bunch, but the individual carrot) are largest pieces. The cheese slice and strawberry are ok too, IMO. We have all the different foods for my DS (1.5 yo) but he's not a mouther, so I don't worry about the size too much.
