I'm toying (heh heh :LOL) with the idea of getting ds a wooden toy kitchen for his 3rd birthday coming up here shortly. They're so expensive, though, and I'm worried that I'll get it for him and he won't have any use for it. Has anyone else tried this out - with boys, especially? He's a real "sports" kid, but loves imaginative play with his "dolls" (read: Buzz Light Year and Woody), too. He also really likes to help me cook.. but I'm just not sure if this would be an adequate substitute for him (because he's really not careful enough around the hot stove to be able to help me as much as he would like to).

Thanks very much.

I got a nice wooden kitchen at Target, for 1/2 price ($25) after Christmas. It's very basic (no $#@!ing cell phone, thank goodness) and VERY sturdy. I had to assemble it myself, but it's heavy and well put together.

This year I'm gonna keep my eye out for the matching table & chairs, when everything goes on sale after Christmas.
