I had a few organic and wooden not made in China toys for baby girl that were the newborn+ age range but I'd like to get some more for her that are a bit more interesting and challenging. Anyone have any fun recommendations for me? I'm attempting to make her some cloth jingle balls but I'm kind of sewing challenged, LOL!

Oh and I love Etsy as well if you know of anything there!

Thanks!

eta: wanted to add she plays a lot with general household stuff like wooden spoons, but I like to have a few fun and interesting things for her. She's only had 4 real baby toys so far

Here are a few thing we have -

wooden rattle ball

nesting bowls

A really easy project to make is a wool felt ball. If you wanted to make it rattle you could put a little bell inside. All you need is some wool roving, which you can get online, and a sink of hot soapy water. Look online for a tutorial for "wet felting". All you need is time, no special skill needed. You can buy them but for what you'd pay for one you can make several.

Also playsilks - you can but the little hanky sized ones but making them is cheaper and really easy. A few years ago I made a big set - 4 sizes in six colors. All of the silks, some wilton cake decorating gel (personally I think it works better than Kool Aid) and a big jug of vinegar were less than buying a finished set of 6 big ones. All of my boys play with them. The baby likes peek a boo

Thanks guys!

Sage, I've been meaning to try making both wool balls and playsilks...we're moving into our new house in a couple weeks and once we do I'm going to give it a try!

Right now she's happily gumming some of her brother's Haba blocks...exactly why I chose those for him a couple years ago, so when he scattered them all over our next baby could chew on them

I'm a fan of Selecta, Haba, Holztiger and Bajo wooden toys. I avoid Haba's cloth stuff as it is MIC. But their wooden stuff is wonderful. We have a few things from Plan but I just generally prefer the looks of the stuff thats made in Europe vs Thailand.

Most of our stuff comes from Oompa, though some stuff is from random other places.

Yes, I think my three year old will be getting a bunch of Holztiger animals for his birthday this year!

I had a neat Haba teether/rattle for DD but unfortunately I have lost it. I hope I find it when we move!
