Help! I just got my first wool diaper cover and it got poop on it and it won't come off. How am I supposed to wash this thing.

I hand washed it with Eucline(sp?) in cool water then I used and old tooth brush to try to scrub out the poop on the sides. Still no good there is poo stain all over the leg holes of my new $28 cover!!!

I wash with an olive oil based bar soap and then do the eucalon. See if that helps. You can always relanolize so experiment with other soaps to see if you can get it clean that way.

be careful with the harsh scrubbing and the sunning - both can felt or otherwise damage the wool. I have a friend who ruined two soakers by sunning them.

I've gotten stains out (or gotten them significantly paler) by lightly rubbing with some olive oil soap and then soaking in Eucalan for a looooong time, like an hour or so. If I don't have olive oil soap, I'll just rub with a little Eucalan before soaking it.

Getting poop out of wool is the major downside to using wool, in my opinion. If it wasn't for this issue, I'd use only wool because I think it's the perfect cover in every other way.

I'm resigned to very faint stains on the wool because it just seems that there's no way to really get it completely stain-free without damaging it. The method I described above does get the stain out sometimes though, and if it doesn't get it out it makes it extremely light.

Yeah, I'd save slivers of our olive oil soap bars and scrub them directly on soiled wool covers. You could also get a woolwash bar. Doing it as soon as you can helps the most.

You could soak it for a few hours in your woolwash and try another go at it with a bar of soap.
I wouldn't worry too much about the cover being stained, I always found that over a month or two of regular occaisonal washing stains usually came out on their own for us (always a bummer though when it gets stained right away).
