First I have to say how happy I was yesterday to get my order from Punkin Butt - wool liners and some extra Joey Buns doublers. I tried out a wool liner last night and Isaiah's diaper was still soaked (although his Aristocrat as usual kept the bed and his pj's dry!!!) so I don't know if I did something wrong or maybe just didn't use enough absorbency. I used a flannel fitted, a fleece topped hemp doubler with the wool liner underneath the doubler. The wool liner felt fairly dry this morning - the doubler and diaper were soaked.

Second I have to rant momentarily about UPS - I DO NOT LIKE THEM!!! Because I live in Canada UPS acted as my customs broker and for providing this service they charged my $27 (for a $70 dollar order) I personally think that's ludicrous. When I received an order airmail from the States I paid a $5 service charge for similar broker type services and that's it. And that order was worth about $80. I'm never having anything sent UPS again and I suggest other Canadians be very careful of them (although you're probably all more aware of this than me already!!!)

Well, one of the purposes of the wool liner is to FORCE the doubler/CPF/fitted to absorb everything it can. The diaper is supposed to be wet.

Were you just adding the liner for absorbency, or did you want it to keep his skin dry?

I guess I just thought that if the wool liner forced my doublers to absorb more that the actual diaper would be less wet in the morning. I can get enough absorbency through my hemp doublers, but I wanted to keep Isaiah's skin drier. If the liners aren't going to do that I may not keep them, as they are pretty bulky.

From what I have read on this thread and one other http://216.92.20.151/discussions/sho...threadid=91242 it sounds like the wool liner did make the doubler absorb more therefor making the diaper less wet than it would have been if the wool weren't there.
I hope it works since I just ordered one to try out when my dd comes.

As to what would keep his skin drier - I guess I thought the doubler would be the most wet, not the diaper - which does touch his skin in some spots, even though I do use a nice fleece liner on top. I think maybe I'm just a bit overwhelmed by all I put in the diaper at night now - fleece liner on top, two doublers plus a wool liner - and still the diaper is soaked! Oh well, he doesn't seem too uncomfortable so I guess I'll just not worry about it. Thanks for all your help everyone!

I'm a little confused. Wouldn't it be the doubler next to his skin, not the diaper? Where is the doubler? Are you using a fitted?

Every night I think "This diaper is so bulky! Why can't I use less?" But then I remind myself that a bulky diaper is better than a wet baby and bed.

Here's what I use:

Either
-- a fleece pocket diaper (like Snugwee or Apron Strings) stuffed with a premium CPF and a wool liner with a fleece-topped hemp doubler next to his skin (helps keep the cream from staining the diaper.)

OR

-- a hemp/fleece pocket fitted (from Darling Diapers) stuffed with a CPF/wool liner and a fleece doubler next to his skin with a wool cover.

Have you washed your wool liners yet?

It is mostly the fleece liner next to his skin, then the doubler. But there are spots that the diaper still touches (mostly on the backside higher up. I guess pocket diapers would eliminate that but I already have a great stash of fitteds that I love and I really like using an Aristocrats cover.

I feel better knowing most babies are super bulky at night - and I guess it doesn't matter much that the poor child can barely move! Thanks for your help.

I started cding my ds around 4 months and put off his rolling very often (at night) for another 2 months! I use a cpf with 3 joeybunz, or 3 doublers that are 3 layers of hemp french terry each (with the cpf still). He is still pretty wet in the morning, but he doesn't seem to mind.

Oh and
at ups!
