Seeing all the cute wool out there has gotten me interested.

I am just wondering if it's possible for a baby to wear a wool soaker and wool longies when they have an allergy to wool.

I would think not but I wasn't sure with the new wool that's out there and such, I am not a knitter so I have no idea here.

Does anyone know??

Thanks!

What kind of allergy are we talking? I know a lot of people think they are allergic to wool because it makes them itch, but it is usually from wearing the wrong types of wool and not a true wool allergy, yk? True wool allergies are actually a lot less common than people think (though they DO happen).

Oh, duh you were asking about your baby, not yourself!
: Sometimes I don't read close enough!
Though, I guess the same thing can apply.....is it a real wool allergy or just itchiness? Also, I know for some people they can use organic wools because it's not the wool itself they are allergic too, but the chemicals that are used commonly to process wools. PM me and I can tell you more.........

I started putting wool on DD when she was 4 weeks old.... at first she had a lil red rash with tiny bumps...( a lil rash)....at first I thought she had an allergy...then I rewashed them in Eucalan and then tried it on 48 hours later.... no red bumps! And since then she's fine (she's 5 months now).... I think it could be either the dye or the lack of proper laninolizing.

HTH...

Thanks everyone.

My daughter gets a bad rash all over when she wears wool.

But it could be the type of wool or the eashing etc. as you said.

Maybe I'll just get one piece of wool to start and try it out, if it's doesn't seem to work I can always resell.

That's a good idea. I would try something not mass produced if you are going to try it, since you said there has been a problem before. Maybe something WAHM knit...most wahms know what yarns are really soft or very minimally processed. I've never tried an aristcrat, but have heard from some that they are scratchier. Maybe Disiana? I haven't heard either way about those.
