I have long thought of taking the wool soaker pants idea to the next level for little babes who are so snuggly in one-piece outfits. Renate (of Nana's Woolies fame) knew just what I meant and created these for my new babe on the way:

Gold colorway

Blue colorway

Both are made from soft 100% wool from Mystical Creations and I think will work pretty well as either a diaper cover or just insurance for in the sling when there's compression and I may have a heavy-wetting-infant
! What are your thoughts on this type of diaper cover?? (I won't actually be able to report back on functionality for quite some time--they are in sizes 9 mo and 12 mo--but if this boy is huge like the buggle I'll get to pull the 9 mo. size out in the fall and the 12 mo size in the winter)

Look what the buggle got in this custom Nana's Woolies order, too:

Black Cherry NanaPants (LTK Merino)

Bright Blue NanaPants (HPY)

Gold NanaPants (HPY)

Turquoise Blue NanaPants (local wool here in Finland, koolaid dyed by me!)

Knitted wool custom orders are so fun!!!

I'm sorry - I don't live in Finland (and will readily admit to being completely and hopelessly geographically challenged) so don't know what the weather is like there.

That is a great idea! And so snuggly for where you live. All the great outfits you have would never work for us - way too hot in AZ even in winter - but perfect for cold weather babes.

I wish we could use long knit pants more but we hardly even use them in winter

those are all gorgeous. really, truly gorgeous.

the one piece outfits are especially cute. I think they'd work pretty well, but I would have a hard time not putting a t-shirt on underneath. I know that would ruin the funtionality with the wicking, but it's habit for me that a shirt goes under a sweater type thing. but if the wool is super soft, it should be fine.

I wonder about the ease of changing though, unless there are buttons in the crotch that I can't see. But then again, maybe you'd just change the whole outfit and not just the diaper.

but really - nana does beautiful work!

I LOVE them! Your little guy will be so warm and cozy! I need to knit some for my babe due this Winter.
:

You could always put a merino onsie or little shirt underneath. Angelica, didn't you have a great link for just that?

Renata continues to amaze me!

I probably will use a lightweight diaper cover AND the outfit, so that the outfit serves as an extra layer of insurance for babywearing, and so I can reuse the outfit over and over and just change the cover.
Ease of changing, I'm not sure...but I've had similar outfits on infants and found as long as the material was stretchy, you could pull their legs out of the 'legs' of the outfit and do the change without much trouble, then put their legs back inside the outfit and button up.
We will see!

Those are truly ingenious! And if I ever have another babe and it's born in the winter months..I want some of those! I can't wait to hear how it works for you!
