So, does anyone have experience with wool soakers?? I am having a bunch made for babe by a knitting goddess friend wich I plan on lanolizing and using during the day. I'm going to buy a few for nightime use and I was thinking about getting aristocrates. they have such a great reputation for nighttime use. Has anyone used longies?? Are the worth paying the extra $10. Any other favorite brands??

I haven't used wool soakers before (although I knitted two for this babe for an experiment), but I did use wool Bumpy covers for ds1 and I LOVED them. I used them at night when I stopped doing nighttime changes and never had any leaks, they were awesome. So soft, too.
I never got the hang of snappi-ing or pinning my prefolds, so I didn't try any of the pull-on kind like Aristocrats (with a Bumpy you can just trifold your PF and lay it in the cover), but I know people swear by them. Never used longies either. Good luck!

This is my first baby, so I don't have any experience, but I've ordered BJM shorties and longies. They are adorable and well made! I also ordered Sit on Knits and Little Turtle Knits soakers. I've gotten all of these off of the TP here on MDC.
I'm getting a little bit of everything to experiment and see what I like.

We used exclusively wool covers for dd and plan on doing so with this next sweet babe as well. If you are looking for a really good night-time wool cover, I would suggest Disana. That's if you like the style of the Aristocrat. I just found that it was too bulky and far, far less soft than the Disana cover. You can buy the Disana covers at www.tinybirdsorganics.com with free shipping! Also, if you are not attached to the Aristocrats style, the absolute most amazing night-time wool is the Tiny Birds Organics wool longies with the built in panty. They are so warm, so soft, lightly felted and completely 100% bulletproof. Well worth the extra $10! Also, congrats on deciding to use wool! A great, healthy choice for you and babe.
Wool soakers like most covers are only as good as what you have inside of them.
Make extra sure they are well lanolized if you are going to be using them at night. If you are using them overnight I would also suggest that it's a double layer of knit and not just a single layer, or have one that is crochet with a tight stitch for overnight use.
I make all the ones we use and those are the things I've found to be most usefull. Tight crochet stitch or double layer knit for over night with a really good absorbant diaper inside.

, oh well. My Dh and I have decided to pick up a few longies (from tinybirds...those are soooo nice and BJM...to cute!) as well as soakers and longies from aristocrates. I'm so excited to order them this week!! Then I'll feel just that much more prepared! I'll have 4 longies and 1 soaker along with the soakers that are being made for us. I have no idea how many she is making though, it'll be a surprise!
