Wool, wool and more wool questions...

DS is growing out of his Sm. Kiwi Pie broadcloth
and we only have one other wool cover right now - a M Kiwi Pie cashmere. I am looking for a trim fitting cover that will be nice over my ElBee dipes (for wearing under clothes). I love my Kiwi's but the are not what I'd call "trim" for under clothes. I have a Med ElBee Wooly Bully on order through a generous mama but am looking for other options since I want to get more soon and my ElBee # is 240 . Any rec's for TRIM and AVAILABLE wool? Oh, affordable would be nice , but that is asking for an awful lot

Also, I'm looking into soakers or soaker shorts for summer. Ideally I want to learn to knit but realistically that won't happen for this summer. Any good recs for these? Available and affordable are my hopes, but I'll settle for just available too.

Finally, what is your fave method for lanolizing? I haven't found a system yet and had a major duh moment when I used the directions sent with my KP covers! Boiling water into jar w/lanolin + cover and shake = OUCH!!
Was not thinking clearly when I did that! Since I'm hoping to go all wool soon, I want to find a good system to use.

Thanks in advance for any help!

ETA - Any WAHM's with the above items can feel free to SPAM ME (via PM if that's not OK on these boards)!!

Thought I'd just give you a good bump... lot's of questions in one post here. I can't tackle it all, but I'll do what I can in my time limit...

I'll take the Lanolizing question on -- When I lanolize, I use the microwave method. I pour some water, a dash of soap and squeeze out about an inch of lanolin into a microwave safe bowl. Then, I heat it for about 30 seconds, wisk it, let it sit until cooled (or just add cold water to it until desired temp) and then I pour it into the wash water my wool has been soaking in. I let them sit for a while.

That's what I do. Hope that helps!

The most availible is bjmarketplace at ebay. $20. They are very soft. I was sceptical at first, but like them.
Ahh - a wisk! That sound slike the perfect solution. Why I didn't think of it I'll never know....

Jen - are the e-bay ones soakers or wool covers? I'll have to check those out.

Any other trim wool recs???

ETA - nevermind Jen! I found her e-bay store. Those are nice!!

Thanks Pam! I've been "here" for a while, but not posting. Working on it lately, though! Want to be able to use the TP

I know, it's a lot to ask, but I HAD to try!! I'd even settle for trim and NOT available - maybe you'd lend your stalking skills to a poor unskilled little mama like me

I love my sugarpeas.com sidesnapping wool covers. Unfortunately she just went wholesale and I haven't seen the jersey version at any of the retailers, but if you can find a jersey cover, I find them a little more trim, although the flannel is OK. They cost around $21-$22.

Also, reuseabums.com has very lightweight jersey and they are VERY affordable, less than $15 sometimes. Although I haven't actually used my cover(it's side snapping, but she also has shorts & pull ons) because I bought too big, I can vouch for the fabric and they have gussets too.

Hope that helps

Btw, do you like your Elbee diapers? I've seen their website, but wasn't sure if they'd be worth the $. I've pretty much settled for kissaluvs and the occasional organic cotton BabyLove. Thanks
Hey Lynne!

I am in COlorado too
. (I assume CO stands for Colorado in your info). Anyway, www.little-fishy.com has awesome trim wool covers. Also wanted to let you know I taught myself to knit in 2 days with a book "Knitting for DUmmies." It was a few weeks of practice before I could knit a soaker but they really aren't hard at all!

I have a CuddleWool that is wool jersy, very stretchy and trim. I also got a Simons Custom Cloth wool cover... VERY reasonably priced (bought from the website and was on sale for $15!) Customer service was top notch, and fast delivery. Not as trim as my cuddlewool, but very excellent cover and not TOO bulky at all. I have a Kiwipie med broadcloth cover that is also not to bulky. I lanolize like the kiwipie instructions.... use the microwave to boil the water... add the dash of eucalan and lanolin... I wisk it with a fork.. take the cover out of the soak water...add hot water mixture.. add cover and soak for a few hours.. HTH!
Dawn - thanks! Do you have a link to the Cuddlewool? Is this like CUddlebuns dipes that are licensed and various WAHM's make them or is this a specific site?

Lori - Thanks for the info on the knitting for Dummies. I may have to check it out
Have you checked out this awesome yarn store in Boulder? http://www.shuttlesspindlesandskeins.com/ My friend shops there and says they are great to work with.
