Would it upset you if a therapist called up and cancelled an appointment on your answering machine because of a billing error? That just happened to me,
and I'm really frustrated by it. Something is mixed up on Medicaid's end, and it just takes clarification, but our therapist decided to cancel our appointments until it is fixed. It just seems really unprofessional to me. I don't think our other therapy provider would have reacted that way. Am I overreacting?

But that's the thing. We promised to pay her out of pocket if it come to that. She's never asked us for payment! I'm getting pretty close to filling a potentially no-providing slot with a guaranteed provider.

It would definitely upset me.
My insurance is constantly fighting against paying for OT even though we're guaranteed 100 visits/ year. Their most recent excuse was that SPD falls under mental health and should be dealt with through their mental health contractor, requiring a mental health practitioner and a treatment plan. The woman who deals with the insurance b.s. at the OT office lets me know what's going on, but keeps on fighting with insurance to the very end. They never cancel appointments because of the issue, nor do they bring up the possibility that we'll have to pay out of pocket. The games insurance companies play are frustrating, but pretty constant. A therapist shouldn't be canceling necessary appointments based on that, IMO.

Thanks for validating my feelings on this! I get so tired of feeling like I'm constantly fighting for things Juju needs and having people I count on let me down. I just had a conversation with the PT about how much better he was doing since we started doing more therapy. He went several months without PT cause we didn't have insurance coverage, and she knows that. I really like that she does Feldenkrais which is why I have gone out of my way to go with her. It would be so much more convenient to go with our other therapy place. And there if one is out, another will cover for them. They didn't have any trouble navigating Medicaid. I guess we'll just see how it goes a little longer, but I'm disappointed.

And to top it off our respite workers we were so happy with quit!
