I have no idea how to judge if I should be worried or not.

Yesterday I definitely had some contractions. I have no idea how often. When I actually sat down to try and figure it out it didn't seem like they were that often. I am also having increased bowel activity and some back pain. I sometimes have back pain if I sleep on my back for too long at night.

The baby still has good movement & is very active. My problem is that when I was in labor with DD I didn't actually "feel" any contractions until they broke my water at 7 cm. I had really bad back pain but that was about it. I never noticed BH contractions prior to labor (but I might have just been oblivious).

So now I'm a little freaked out. I could just have some kind of stomach bug. Or, it could be something else. I have no idea what my cervix should feel like and don't want to check multiple times.

But, if I go to the doctor I don't want to start a landslide of intervention that I don't want and I don't want to unnecessarily be labeled high risk. Other than my age (41 at delivery) I don't have any other medical issues.

Would you go to the hospital just for peace of mind?

No. I'd go to the chiropractor. But that's just me...

I second seeing a good chiropractor, also rest and drink lots of water! Somedays I think oh I'm not over doing it and then I have tightening and know it's time to relax and drink my water!

I had something similar a few days ago, minus the contractions. My back HURT! All over, but mostly down low. All frickin' day!!! Finally, after I got DS to bed, I drank a lot of water, took a long hot bath (in a spa tub, mmm, I love my new home) and had a glass of red wine.

I felt 100% better after that.

I don't know if it was the water, the bath, or the wine, but they made me feel better. And, I don't think it really WAS preterm labor, but just my body objecting to some weird position I'd slept in the night before. Your body is not as forgiving when its pregnant.

Personally, I'd try something similar (back adjustment, relaxing evening, etc), and if you're still having problems, take it up with a doc.
