I was stunned. Im sure other ppl have seen this, but I can't believe the way this is put together!!

http://www.icgi.org/medicalization_of_circumcision.htm

I think this is a really good visual for anyone trying to show others the whole "America vs. the rest of the World" argument...
And I like that there are so many quoted medical journals.

I liked it- very informative. I never knew exactly how many things cutting off that part of the penis supposedly prevents.

I couldnt believe some of the things they reported...no wonder the percentage became so high....it was like "reefer madness" of circumcision....not at all to be funny.....at all.

I can understand why people bought into the hysteria and believed these things then. It just floors me, with so much information aavailable, why so many people still believe it!!!
:
If circ REALLY did everything it's been credited with, every country in the world would do it!
What really confuses me, is why so many people are trying SO hard to justify continuing the practice.

This must have been discussed at some point here before, but why did the UK get clued in to this issue in the 40s/50s, while the US continued to remain ignorant? What happened there that failed to happen here?
That is so great. Really well done. I will have to bookmark that and keep it to send to those interested in the medical information.

The NHS was started in 1948, which made all medical treatment free at the point of use. When doctors weren't paid anything extra for extra work, indeed it actually cost them money, and they discovered how many young boys were losing their lives or getting mangled because of it (which of course cost even more money to correct), they stopped doing it unless there was an absolute medical necessity, it's NOT cost effective.

Over there, doctors get paid a load of money for 15 mins extra work, more money for operations to correct botches or to redo it, AND nowadays there's a massive income stream from selling the harvested tissue on to biotech companies. It's nothing to do with "health" in the US, it's all about money.

Cancer of the tongue??????
:
Holy moly. The tongue of the owner of the foreskin or his partner
I know this is a serious subject but......sorry. Will put my serious hat back on now.

Ahem. I loved that presentation - I will bookmark it for those special people who pop up every now and again on forums I frequent.

I have heard said that when you bring an intact boy to see the doctor for any reason, they are likely to blame the symptoms, whatever they are, on the foreskin. To this day!
Ok, I've just added it to the web resources section in this forum. I wasn't sure if it was already widely known, or seen as I am new to the whole "gathering of information against circumcision" thing.
