So, I had been having spotting since Sunday, along with some vomiting and loss of pregnancy symptoms, which is exactly how my first miscarriage almost exactly a year ago started. Already feeling somewhat anxious what with the 1-year anniversary of our first loss and the due date of our second loss coming up here mid month, the spotting just sent me straight to the edge. After originally deciding that I was not going to have ANY ultrasounds with this baby, I called my m/w and told her I'd changed my mind, get me an ultrasound - NOW.

So anyway it was today at 12:45 and there was a little fetal pole with a tiny little heart pattering away!!

There's no way to know for sure, but we do not believe the two previous babies ever developed a heartbeat, so this is really really good news. Of course, there are no guarantees, but I am much relieved.

It was the cutest little fetal pole I've seen since DS was just a fetal pole (which was the only time we saw him via ultrasound - because of bleeding concerns).

PS, my early wondering was proved correct. I ovulated about a week late in January, doubtless because of the stress of dealing with my mother's death, so I'm a week behind where we were assuming I was going by LMP. We had thought I would be about 7.5 weeks today, but the baby measures 6 weeks 5 days. Good to know.

so - YAY. And I'm now due LATE October, not mid.
