Okay...maybe panic attack isn't right...but I'm looking through my old childbirth book from the classes we took w/ DD, reading about contractions peaking and transition and vomiting (which I did plenty of w/ DD) and....holy cow. I just got that icky tense feeling. It's an ugly physical memory...I don't want to do this.

yuck. I really seriously need to shake this feeling.

And I cannot for my life find my copy of Ina May's Guide to Childbirth which has kept me mostly centered for this pregnancy...crap.

Any tips for writing a birth plan for DH...he was a great coach w/ DD, but I know he's forgotten most of it and I definitely want to incorporate more of Ina May's approach (vs. last time when our instructor focused entirely on breathing techniques...and I'm pretty sure those made me more tense).

any help would be appreciated.

Not really a lot of tips, but I posted what I'd written for my husband... http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1069912

We're doing lamaze, which I'm guessing were your classes last time? But focusing more on the importance of relaxation and his close involvement, than just on the breathing.

My classes were basically ripped off from lamaze by a lady who's since named the "method" she teaches after herself. ;-) The more I"m looking through her material, the more I'm convinced that the breathing she was teaching was more distraction breathing than anything else...and decidedly unhelpful.

The best part about the class is that it at least gave DH a very thorough and useful understanding of the biological process of childbirth. This he mostly remembers I think.
We're going to have our own little birth class together tonight to go over things.
I looked at your birth plan too Kelly, thanks! I've swiped pieces of it for my own.

I'm having serious panic attacks over here. Its not helpful in the least that every one keeps saying, "You have done this before, 7 times, you can do it again."

I am reminding dh, since he will totally zone on a piece of paper come time (btdt), about what I want. He can't remember what we had for dinner last night but he can remember what I want and don't want during birth. So randomly throughout the day I will tell him something. "Remember to turn the lights on for me, I am scared of the dark." "Hold my hand." "keep me hydrated." Which for me means ice chips. My mw had the great idea of freezing powerade (or gatoraid) and then making ice chips from it.
