When I went to the clinic to get a strep throat test, the health aide "figured out" my due date using one of those calculator wheels, and came out with a DD of May 2!

Every online calculator I used gave me an April date... sometime between April 26th and 30th.

I don't want to leave you fine ladies. Guess I'll wait until my appointment in Anchorage in October before committing myself to a DDC. Until then, I'm an April mama, just 'cuz I say so.

As a first time mom going with the later edd might be in your best interest. Many first time moms will go past their edd and too many health care providers aren't comfortable with that. That leads to an induction in a baby that isn't ready to be born just yet and often a c-section. Of course if you plan to a homebirth you are more likely to find a midwife that is less bothered by dates. also my first ob spent most of my first appt thinking I was several weeks earlier then I was because he read the stupid wheel wrong. We got that straightened out in his office and he really was a great ob who didn't mind moms going past their edd.

Meh, don't leave, the "wheels" are always off for me. Funny though, they always seem to make your due date sooner. I always thought it was a conspiracy to freak out about induction sooner, but it's new to me that they made you due later! Thats actually kind of nice.

You can be both April and May anyway. All the more love Besides, I dont think they have made a May board yet (Im all impatient to be not-the-last-month).

I think part of the reason I'm so surprised is that I've already *known* that I'm pregnant for two weeks. It seems crazy that it's ANOTHER month off (even if that "extra" month is really only one day ). The wheel she used wasn't adjustable for different cycle lengths, and my cycle is 25 days. So an extra day or two could put me back in April. And how often are due dates really accurate, anyway?

I'll wait and see what the midwife says in October. I'm not doing a homebirth because I live too far from medical care on the off-chance that I needed to transfer. A transfer would involve air travel... on my dime, since insurance will only pay for a medevac if I need to leave before a certain point in my pregnancy.

And I'm also excited to not be the last month on the DDC listing.

Here is my completely NON professional advice, lol.. If your cycle is 25 days but you still O day 14 or later and your LP is just short... I would still calculate your EDD on a 28 day cycle base as you O'ed the same day a 28 day cycler would..
But if you O days 11-12 or something then adjust the EDD.. KWIM?

Not that the day is really that important but I agree saying early May will make it not seem as bad if you are overdue later, lmbo..

Do you have any idea when you ovulated?
I agree that just pretending to go along with the later due date might be beneficial to avoid induction if you're doing a hospital birth.

edit: Sorry, I read your second answer and saw you answered how long your cycles are!

I'm technically a late April, but I'm over in May coz my dd is April 30 and my daughter was 2 weeks late. You should come back and forth between the two!

What the heck, having two DDCs sounds like fun.

well, if I made it this month I'll probably be a May girl too. We can hang out with whoever would join us (assuming I'd make it in: )

I'm in the same boat. I was 1.5 weeks past my edd with dd1, and am expecting that I will do the same with this one. But, I don't see the May 2008 club yet???????? My EDD came out as 4/25, but I am betting on early May.

I'm straddling two DDCs as well, with an EDD of March 30.

One of those extra days is due to the fact that the wheel does not account for leap year. So, if you got 4/30, the wheel would get 5/1, etc.
