Four times today I've felt like I suddenly couldn't breathe from half my nose. When I finally get my nose blown out it's (sorry gross and TMI) a HUGE amount of the thickest mucus I've ever seen. I'm talking extremely thick. It's the consistency of that GAK stuff that was popular when I was little or the yucky goop that kids buy at the toy store that makes fart noises. Sticky like tacky glue. When I say huge amount I mean around 1/2 a tablespoon or more with each blow.

It is disgusting and I've never encountered this issue before. I have no other symptoms. I just got over a really terrible flu but I've been better for a week now. My main concern is WHY is it so thick? Do I have an allergy or something?

Just like the PP said, I have had this and it was a sinus infection.

Was it bright green or yellow? That's what I get when I have a bad sinus infection. To get rid of it I always try the neti pot first. 2-3 drops of GSE and warm salt water in the neti pot 3x a day. I also drink 10 drops of GSE in OJ twice a day. It usually goes away within 3 days of that treatment, but I keep drinking the GSE for 5 days.

This worked wonders! I've never used the GSE in the neti pot before but it is the go-to now. Thank you so much!

It definitely sounds like a sinus infection. A sinus infection is very common after the flu.

Hope you feel better soon!
