My local news station has chosen breast cancer awareness as their major community outreach project for years. I tuned in the other day to see the weatherman outside interviewing three women in full length fur coats. They are breast cancer survivors, and activists for breast cancer research and funding. A local furrier is donating the furs to the winner of a raffle/contest of some type. I'm rather moderate, but even I was appalled to see three long fur coats, right there on the news, being presented as a glamourous prize. I thought in this day and age a major news outlet would have better taste than that! However, I don't want to write a letter that is critical of the actual cause. What do you think? Am I wrong for thinking this is a tacky/tasteless way to win support for an otherwise good cause?
