Did anyone see the CBS Evening News story they did about the off-label use of cytotec as a labor inducer for pregnant women?

I was hoping for a more critical look at this use of cytotec, but it was pretty mainstream and sound-bitey. They did interview Marsden Wagner, though, which is one point in Evening News' favor. The focus of the spot was on how it can cause brain damage in the infant, and they featured a couple with a now four year-old daughter who has serious developmental delays. They also focused on the fact that Searle, the manufacturer of cytotec, has a label on the packaging that specifically shows a pregnant silhouette with a circle and slash through it and that it states not for use with pregnant women.

Just wondering what you all thought of it...

Interestingly enough when I was induced with DS, they used cytotec. I asked about it because I had heard negative things about it, and the doc assured me it was safe.

I delivered my daugher under two years later at a different hospital and my OB told me that they do not use cytotec to induce labor at all. It is only used when a woman has miscarried a baby. She said it isn't safe.
