Hello, I posted this also in Questions...
I'm using The First Year's hand pump, but I find that it sucks. I'm only getting 2 oz. a day and I know that I have way more milk than that. Any advice would be helpful!
How much milk are you wanting to pump and how often? What kind of pump you need really depends on what you will be using it for. I only occasionally pump, usually to make a few momsicles or something. I have a Medela single electric pump and works more than well enough for that.
I have low supply issues, and I want ds to get every drop of bm he can get. He'll only bf when he asleep or really tired, and I'd like to give him EBM w/ his form. I don't want to use an electric pump as the sound reminds me of the NICU pumping room and then my milk won't let down at all. So hand pump it must be! I pump 3-5 times a day...
Momsicles, eh? I'll have to remember that
The Avent Isis is probably the best hand pump. You can sometimes get it at drugstores when they have 15% off. Or you can get it at Toys R Us and use this coupon for 20% off:

http://www6.toysrus.com/our/tru/prom...ail/Save20.cfm
I had to pump the whole first month and still didn't get more than 2 oz in one sitting...and that was with a double breasted electric hospital grade.
Are you nursing on one side and pumping on the other? That usually produces much better results...
Ah well, it's a complicated senario. Ds will only bf while he's very sleepy and during the night. He's also easily distracted-I tried to read once while bf him, but he was more interested in what I was doing than eating.
