Then what time do they go to bed at night? My dd is 10mo and takes a nap at 11am and 5pm then goes to sleep for the night at 10pm. Should I try to get her to take one nap later in the day and then put her to bed earlier instead?

My once-a-day napper is almost 3 now, but he's had the same schedule since he was closer to a year when he first moved to one nap a day. He has had a bedtime of 7pm for a long, long time (basically, as soon as I was able to move it there, I did), although it's closer to 8pm now with baby #2 having the 7pm timeslot. Anyway, the afternoon nap is usually around 1:30 or 12:30, depending on how tired he is. Prior to switching to one nap, he had a morning nap around 9ish, and then the afternoon nap around 1ish. That's what baby #2 has right now, and will for a while, since he's only 6 months old.

Btw, the move to one nap a day is very trying... it's just a really tough transition. But once you get through it, it's kind of nice because you can run errands in the morning and have your afternoon be for naps.

OP - what time does your LO wake up in the AM? Do you have a problem with LO staying up until 10pm? Are you trying to free up the AM?

When DS1 went from 2 naps to one it was wonderful, to be honest we probably encouraged it a little earlier than he would have chosen. It was so hard to go anywhere when he was napping before lunch and after lunch. Just be aware if you put your LO to sleep earlier in the evening that may mean you will have an earlier wake up time too. Then again you might just have a better rested baby!

DS1 who is almost 29mo takes a nap after lunch, before the time change he was going to bed around 8pm. Now he takes a SUPER long nap with my DH who is working night shift and he goes to bed at night around 9:30/10 and wakes up around 8am. This works for us, good luck finding something that works for you!
My dd would wake up between 7 and 8am, take a nap at 10am and fall asleep for bed sometime between 8 and 9pm. She was 8 months old when she went from two 1hr naps to one 1hr nap. She kept her wake and bedtimes the same.
