I have some Bernat So Soft in my stash that I got super cheap when I first started knitting. It's definitely not my favorite but I'm making something for someone with a wool allergy so I figured I'd use it up. I found a shawl in The Purl Stitch by Sally Melville. If you don't know the books, she gives directions for any yarn within a gauge range & shows the finished piece knitted up in a few different yarns. Anyway, she gives the yardage for this project as 900 yards. I have 3 skeins of this so soft at 275 yards each so I'm about 8% short.

So what do you think mamas...go ahead & do it & jsut fudge with the borders at the end or find a different project or yarn?

I was just coming over here to say yes I'm going to do it. The shawl has a large cowl (?) neck ribbed border & about a 2 or 2.5" ribbed bottom border. I'm making it for my sil who is quite petite so I figured I'd shorten it a bit on the length & shorten the 2 borders if I need to.

I feel like I'm turning into a yarn snob though
I've spoiled myself lately working with some really nice yarns. The So Soft isn't bad but the other stuff is oooohhh so nice to work with. Also I feel like I need to use up some stuff in my stash so I can justify getting new yarn
