My 8th grade students are graduating from their K-8 school in a few weeks and as their teacher and 8th grade advisor, I'll be on stage with them and giving a speech and all that. And I have nothing to wear. I can't find anything online that jumps out at me. My kids will practically be in formal wear and the principal is always super classy, and I don't want to look dumpy!

The perfect dress would have the following characteristics:
Mostly natural fibers
Short-sleeved (my hairy armpits gross the kids out and it is *their* day, so I'll keep them under wraps!)
Modest neckline
Knee-length, and preferably a skirt that's a bit swingy
A waist--as opposed to a tunic-y or tent-y thing
Look cute with these shoes (in black)
Under $50
I'm about a 14/16, tall, wider on the bottom than the top.

The only thing I own that I would consider is this dress, which I made in teal linen knee-length with 3/4 sleeves and no pockets. But I wear that all the time and I don't think it's special enough for the kids' event.

Hm... That's a pretty specific list of criteria. This may be too much to ask! Who's up for a challenge?

You totally dress like me!! I love swingy skirts; those shoes are the kind of thing I wear, and I look best in black. I love to shop at Dress Barn.

Here is their store locator:

http://www.dressbarn.com/flashHome.j...e=storelocator

(They have five stores in Maine)

And I was looking around at the previous poster's link and found this:

http://www.territoryahead.com/jump.j...ge=1&onePage=1

It's not natural fibers, but it's gorgeous!

Not sure how it would look with those shoes you linked, though.

what about just adding a light short sleeves jacket to your regular/favorite dress ?

I've got a linen neutral shade no-inside-lining 3/4 lenght sleeves jacket that "dresses up" my regular outfit when I need that "finished look"
